Valentines Day

We were planning to have a more elaborate Valentines day then we did. Our church was hosting free 2-hour day care and we had plans to take advantage of it.

Hubs had 3 free chili's gift cards he had gotten from work and our plan was for him to place our order for take out, head to the store for pick up and have a nice meal with no dishes or clean up... We'd then drop off the little man at church to run around with his pint sized friends and enjoy 2 hours of toddler free time.

Hubs put the order in online, finished work and headed to pick it up. He arrived at the store at 5:30 and it wasn't ready. Worse, they had just received the order he had placed at Noon that day... (face palm)...

So he was left to wait... then hit traffic on the way home because of the wait from the restaurant and cruised in with dinner right as the church sitting program was supposed to begin. By the time we would have the toddler fed, it would be pointless to drop him off because we wouldn't be able to really go anywhere... and we like our boy...

So we changed plans.

Instead we ate a fun meal with our toddler and enjoyed not having to do the dishes... and then we took a walk and gathered sticks and tree logs that had fallen and hadn't been picked up by the gardeners... and then we made a little fire in one of the BBQ's so hubs could practice lighting fire with flint and steel...

Making it the best Valentines Day ever for him...

He loves camping and the outdoors and we just haven't had the land, yard, or space really to let him enjoy "camping." He's one of those guys who watches those "bush craft" survival videos on facebook, and he had been itching to make fire for a while now...

So our BBQ fire let him scratch an itch and buy me some time before we have to figure out how he can go camping with a toddler.

It's a good thing i'm in charge of planning our city wide "camp out" in the park night. Pretty sure hubs and little man will be all over that this year.
