Life and other musings

Little dude keeps getting bigger and bigger. He's 15 months old now and a total climber. This week he figured out how to climb onto the dinner chairs and then up onto our kitchen table...

We also had his first ever pool day for the 4th of July - He loved it and I think we might have to do Monday pool days on my day off now :)

I might not have much time for the blog at this stage of our lives, but it's nice to pop in and post some pictures and send in a few updates. Work is crazy busy since summer is here and there are a lot of changes going on. It's definitely a growing experience and I love the challenge and doing things I didn't think I could.

I also think I'm getting a bit braver in my new role as mom. Hubs and I have been contemplating moving out of state for some time now and I would be lying if I wasn't seriously considering it if I could find a job out there. That idea and concept --- starting over from scratch--- was something I would have never considered before but I guess we grow up as we get older.

We're still tracking our spending, paying extra on the mortgage and getting a few things taken care of on our annual to-do list (like long deferred trips to the dentist -- I had my first ever cavity...)

I got a raise on my last performance evaluation and the City just increased our over all compensation benefits by adding a $150 monthly matching 401a program and an increase to the amount of our health insurance premiums they will cover so despite the smaller living corners, we don't feel as pinched financially.

If we count matching contributions from our employers, we're saving around 14% of our income for retirement between my pension/ his social security and both our 457/401a and 401k matching programs. We won't be doing a Roth IRA this year again because we are saving our extra paychecks (since we both get paid bi-weekly) towards a replacement car fund since Stitch is rocking over 100,000 miles and the escort has 96,000 miles on it and we are the "pay cash for a car" type of people.

But all and all were still hanging in there.
