Homemade screen door fix... on the cheap

In an effort to really work at reducing our electric bill, we needed to be practical about a few things. First and foremost, one of our patio screen doors didn't close very well... and the other didn't open and shut very easily.

While my husband has been at home anxiously waiting for then driving job to call him back about his scheduled drug test, he decided to be useful and fix both our doors.... for a penny.

That's right. All we needed was to get rid of one penny. My husband took it and drilled a hole through it.

See, there's a hole in the middle.
Apparently the one screen door in the living room wouldn't sit right in the track because the screw couldn't tighten enough to get the wheel at the correct height. So he made the penny into a washer... and used it to help put the screw in the right place.

Cheapest Washer I've ever paid for.
The other screen just needed to have the frame bent and filed down a bit so it could close all the way and he did that with his tool.
