December Kiva Loan

Location: Khanewal, Pakistan
Sector: Agriculture
Activity: Animal Sales
Loan Use: To buy goats for animal sales business
Repayment Term: 13 months

Shamshad lives in Khanewal, a small city in Pakistan known for its agriculture industry. She lives there with her family in a two-room brick house in an area called Railway landy. She moved there 15 years ago. She is a housewife and spends most of her time at home doing her housework. She is a mother of three sons and two daughters. All of them are getting their education except the eldest, who works in a factory.

She is married to Samuael Masih who works for Pakistan Railways. He also runs an animal sales business. He buys animals at cheap rates from the animal markets, raises them, and sells them to customers.

Shamshad has applied for a loan from Kiva partner Asasah for her husband’s business. With the loan he will buy some goats, raise them, and then sell them to his customers for a good profit. He has been involved in this business for the past 10 years and Shamshad is very confident that her husband will make good money from his business after the loan investment. She is a regular user of the Asasah loan service and this is her fifth loan application.
