I lost my memory stick... and an update on homes

I’m so sad to say this… I’ve lost my memory stick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That little SD thing was like my bestest financial buddy… sniff… it had my budget, my calculated paycheck with all the city gizmo calculations in it… my retirement perspectives… all the different home buying senarios…. (no personal accounts or data like that so it’s okay that I lost it…) but man that think was my financial life… and I lost it. Last day I had it was Saturday…. I’m also missing my garage door opener… I hope they aren’t hanging out together… cause I can’t find the garage door opener either…

So for the next few days… or possibly a week until I can replace it, posts with actual numbers and figures may be postponed a week as I hunt around for it… and if I can’t find it, I’ll have to buy a new one and work everything over from scratch…. STUPID me…

In other news, on the HOUSING FRONT… Apparently my desire to go outside the realm of FHA will not be possible. My loan guy told me the wrong information. I’d need a 15% down payment to be able to go non-FHA… because i'm looking at condos......... and the particular complex I was hoping to get… is basically only accepting Cash only offers from investors.

But I found out its cheaper for me to get a Non-calpers FHA loan because Calpers loans must charge points… so I may end up just getting a BOFA loan. Right now its 5.375% no points for up to $165,000.00--- I’m going to call my loan guy today and ask him about buying something in the $170,000 range if I upfront an additional $5,000 so the loan stays with in its limits, etc.

As I re-build my data, I’ll be able to better figure out where I stand with all the different loan options I have available to me… and how much above 165,000 I can go.

  1. I feel ya girl. I lost mine a few months ago!! Luckily I had saved some of the data in my work computer...10 months PRIOR so I ended up losing all my updates but not all the sheets

After that I bought a USB hard drive and backed up all my information. I also purchased a memory stick that I can put in my car keys :)

    Hope u find it!!

  2. i lost my memory stick a few days ago too, but found it like a day or two later. What had done previously was save a copy of my spreadsheets to my hard drive so that if I did loose it for good, at least I had the templates saved somewhere

  3. I was just thinking how lost I would be if I lost my memory stick. I have budgets planned out for the next year, and all my debt/savings races. Definitely need to make sure I take good care of it! And I should delete my mortgage docs from it asap because those DO have sensitive information for both me and DBF. Uh oh...

  4. My friend and I were recently discussing about the ubiquitousness of technology in our daily lives. Reading this post makes me think back to that debate we had, and just how inseparable from electronics we have all become.

I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Societal concerns aside... I just hope that as technology further develops, the possibility of uploading our memories onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's one of the things I really wish I could experience in my lifetime.

  6. Digital Memory sure is becoming cheaper and cheaper and cheaper. I wonder when we will finally reach the ratio of 1c to 1 Gig.

I'm quietly waiting for the day when I will finally be able to afford a 20 terabyte harddrive, hahaha. But for now I guess I will be satisfied with having a 16 gigabyte Micro SD Card in my R4i.

  7. Purchasing memory is such a big hassle... You have to search online for prices, sort through which ones are genuine, visit a bunch of stores, compare prices, finally buy your memory, and then hope that the price doesn't fall in the next two weeks or so.

I've been f'd over by rapid price drops in the past... especially this one time when I bought a Micro SD for my R4 gaming flash card at what was apparently a steal, only to later see that it had dropped five bucks in a week.
