updates

House Downpayment: $9,403.87

Just as you have been paying closer attention to the possible tax increases our state assembly may begin to impose on us in the near future to handle their overspending, so have I.

Yesterday I got my DMV bill for my car stickers and the like. Normally this bill is supposed to go down each year as your vehicle becomes older and cheaper to insure.

Last year I paid $141.00 for stickers. This year I’m being charged $155.00. That’s a 10% increase when I figured it might drop down a buck or two. Good thing I save up the amount of my bill the year before so I already have the 141.00 and only need to come up with the extra $14.00…

If they end up tripling the car tax I’d end up with a VERY hefty bill.

---------

In other news, all my 1099’s have come in the mail.

The grand total for 2008: $372.13 (that’s pretty eh? All for doing nothing and just saving money)

=)
---------

All I’m waiting for now is my W2. Then I’ll free file on-line and pay 19.95 for my state return to be done at eztaxreturn.com. Wait ten days, and bam… refund goes to this years retirement…

And if you saw what my shares were selling for right now, you’d want that cash ASAP to buy while they are just so darn low!

I just hope I get it soon so I won't get stuck with some IOU from the government.

for 2009: I'm claiming 1 for the whole year on both state and federal. Last year I did zero because I don't want to A) give the Feds and interest free loan anymore... and B) I think its dishonest and rude to tell tax payers they may get IOU's because they overpaid in good faith, but the government won't accept IOU's from people.

come on pretty W2

getting aquainted with my new home.

I love my new apartment!!!!!

I decided to spend one of my days off decorating my new place and getting a few things i'd been meaning to do for ages done. thankfully I was highly productive.

I got a new library card (its within walking distance... infact everything is within walking distance, which is amazing.)

My complex maint. is wonderful. They fixed the running toilet, the hard to move bathroom shower doors, the lock on the patio slider, they are checking out the ligths about the dinning room table because my boyfriend thinks they have faulty wiring, and they even gave me a third key to the place so my boyfriend can have one in a emergency... they are wonderful! I want to bake them cookies.

As for the financial ramifications of moving, those are still developing. $60 bucks or so to feed all my friends subway on move day, about $55 bucks to Uhaul for a trailer, insurance, and a utilities dolly, bills that have yet to come in to turn off services as well as end those we used to have, eating out in the week prior to moving because the dishes were packed...

But this month is the 3 paycheck month and that will replenish my emergency fund and start making headway on my Roth Ira account as well. I'm waiting for the security deposit and pro-rated rent to makes its way to my via mail from my old place. That should off-set most of the rent i've had to pay to the new place and the extra will go to retirement.

The plan is to give a set monthly amount to the house fund, all extra to retirement until it's maxed, and then sling all extra monies toward the one day wedding in the near future (the next two years or so).

and life is happy. I'm happy and love my new place. My job doesn't seem to bother me too much now that i'm not living in that old city (i think there was just too many emotionally tolling memories surrounding the place to make it a happy home anymore.) I smile more...

and i've lost 7 lbs!

It's shaping out to be a happy January. I've also read at least 2 books this month and my brain is happy for some stimulation. =)

busy busy busy

Sorry posts have been few and far between.

Between packing, finding the new place, cleaning, and trying to remember what normal is... this has been an INSANE month. January is supposed to slow down after the holidays come to a close... but aparently not for moi.

Happily, I'm down three pounds!

Move update:

$55.00 in utility turn on and change of name services.
$1.00 usps to change my address
$15.00 Application fee
$100.00 Hold fee

1795 due at lease signing (1495 rent, 300 rest of deposit)... 700 from roommate hopefully....

I'm renting a trailer for aroun $41 to hook up to my friends suburban. I'll get the final price later this week.

Feb, we pay the pro rated rent which should be around 400 for me, 350 for roommate...

and I should be getting a $500.00 deposit back from my original place (400 will be mine to cover this down payment.)

I also noticed my current place has not cashed my rent check. I'm going to call to figure out why they have not cashed my check.

I'm Moving....

The leak caused mold... I said Fair Housing... We get to leave our lease behind.

I'm now moving into Another City with my roommate, signing a 12 month lease, paying the same amount we are now... just two small utility bills more.

=)

I move on the 17th to the new place, so i'll end up paying an extra 2 weeks in rent (woot emergency fund and overtime coming in)..

Only problem now is making sure my roommate can cover her half.

She needs in essence to come up with $700.00 by the 17th... and then the pro-rated rent for February by the 1st.

I'm going to have to have a conversation with her later tonight that I'm not looking forward to having.

I have a hole in my ceiling...

Went to the leasing office to report a leak in my bathroom ceiling.

I Just recieved a phone call telling me that they will finish the project tomorrow... and that I have a huge hole in my ceiling in my bathroom... How awkward will that be when I get home... I'll try to take a picture of the damage...

EKKK

For the record... I'm fully moving when my lease is up...

They already did a patch job when I noticed there was a large crack in my ceiling a few months back... guess where the leak is now... right where the crack was...

and my roommate doesn't want to stay there, doesn't care where we go, but can't pay more then she's paying now... Looks like I might end up going solo if we don't get lucky... that or i may move in with boyfriends parents and rent out a room.

Credit Score... WOOT

Transunion: 856
Experian: 829

The only advice on "increasing" my score is to keep my accounts open longer, and not apply for any new ones.

It also notes that it would look better if i had more available credit... but i don't want to apply for more, or ask for increases now when companies and cutting people down.

BUT HOLY WOW!!!! above 800!
