ER... and not the show...

My friend has been in and out of the ER for the last 3 days... and i've been right beside her...

Monday night--- in ER till 3:00am.... (lots of tests...) Not admitted

Tuesday Night--- in ER till 11:00pm.... but another CAT Scan, MRI, and a lumbar puncture (ouch!) Meds perscribed.. Not Admitted...

Wednesday.... Mother takes meds to the massage parlor in purse.... daughter finally gets pills when a co-worker (SHE WAS LEFT ALONE FOR A FACIAL!!!!!!!) drives to the massage place and takes them from her mother to give to her..... a little while later... allergic reaction to said meds.... ER till 4:00AM on Thursday morning cause a doctor wanted to eat cake... and lots of other trama came in the same night........ she was FINALLY ADMITTED at 4:00am!!!!!

i got 5 hours of sleep last night, saw her for 2 more hours this morning, then hit work (where i'm now)... after i'm off, its back to the hospital for me.

and FYI--- nurses refusing to sign my parking pass so i don't have to pay--- sucks

college???

Apparently my college is sending me a bill...

which makes zero cents because i couldn't have recieved my Diploma if i had a balance... This is the same problem that's floated to the surface 3 times... once a week before graduation.

They promise me they will fix it today....

A reminder to all college students.... SAVE YOUR PAPERS!!!!

The ZOO!!! and double WOOT WOOT for the new fund i created.

So i went to the San Diego Zoo for the first time in my life! It was awesome. and the baby panda's are priceless.... I wanted to take one home with me soooooo bad.... so i had to settle for some keepsakes from the panda store... since you can't actually take a panda home.... sad

The BF paid for gas and my ticket--We each paid for our own lunches, but I paid for dinner for us at Claim Jumper... and of course i paid for my own keepsakes.

(I used the overtime money i had from my last paycheck to cover the trip.) I have a little over $100.00 left from the overtime to cover my half of the pizza costs for my party on Saturday. The "leftovers" are going towards the "I will spend this by Dec"--- the newly created fund for auto maint... birthdays... and holidays.... plus special outtings like the zoo.

Any holiday pay, overtime, and raises are getting slucked in here. (i get a 6% raise for my annual review to be retro active from May 20th.... which should be coming soon... and another 4% in January) so that kinda makes it 10% for the random stuff that will come up throughout the year... which is better then i was doing.

Come January, whatever is left in here will go to next years roth to help jump start it... But Xmas comes before Jan so i doubt it...

I know i have to call toyota and get an auto maint quote for my next service check. Speaking of cars... i finally purchased one of those PSI readers for one's tires.... I'll hopefully be correctly inflating my tires from here on out whenever i stop and get gas.

A few things...

On Gas...
One day a week I have to work at a different facility and its a mile or so closer to my house... =) hey man, every bit helps... I'm also going to pull $140.00 out of my checking account on Aug 1st for gas... I'll keep cash in my wallet to avoid the 45 cent charges that are starting to become the norm at a lot of the stations here...

Always have a resume...
Apparently my work is starting eligibility lists for internal promotions for the positions directly above my current one... I had to spend 3 hours answering supplimental questions for the interview and trying to update my resume... I'm going to re-do the resume today... Who knows, promotion??

Knowing when to remind your boss that he's had the paperwork for your review 3 months...
Not on the day the facility has a lot of issues... i was going to mention that my review was yet to be processed on friday... but a buch of punk kids were messing around the facility after hours and my boss was on the phone with the police for a while. But in my questioning around... apparently there is a review thats 6 months late for one of our employees.... I turned in my paper work a month early... so mines only 2 months late as of now... I'll send an email to him today (today its 3 months on his desk).

its times like this where I think I'll change my withholding...

It's times like this where I think I'll change my withholding...but i know i won't... cause i don't want to owe the government anything... yet..... I also hate giving them a free loan... its not fair... I heard they fine you if you owe too much? Why can't I fine them for taking too much???

I've made $24,917.91 this year...
  • $3,772.84 ----> Federal Taxes
  • $893.29------> State taxes
  • $361.39-------> Medicare taxes
  • $189.43-------> Automatic Manditory CALpers deduction
  • $13.95 --------> Survivor Ben

= $5,230.09

Leaves me with: $19,687.01

$5,000 to my roth...

Leaves me with: $14,687.01

hmmm... no wonder my house dp is tiny... Thank GOD i don't have to pay social security... It's like having a 5% raise just for working for my job.

I made a wonderful mistake! I'm retiring early (8 years earlier)

My calpers formula is 2.7 @ 55....!!! not 2.5%.

I can retire at 57... with 1.5 million in todays dollars, assuming i make $40,000.00 a year (which I am.)

Why 57? It will suppliment over 100% of the income i'll be making at retirement by staying an extra 2 years... AND It insures that i'll recieve money coming in until i'm 99 (cause i could live that long with modern medicine).

With my income right now, I'll recieve over $41,000 a year till i'm 99.... I actually used the official CAlpers website to calculate it. and that's all before utilizing my ROTH IRA!!!!!!! Can we say travel???

New retirement date: Wednesday, June 3rd, 2043

I just knocked off 8 years!!!!!

I promised a numbers update... here it is

At 22 years of age, This is where i stand...

Net Worth: $33,402

  1. Comprised of my car KBB value at trade in, good condition with 35,000 miles. $11,040.00... not too shabby.
  2. Todays value of my CAL Pers retirement $4,023.00. This will go up soon, but i haven't gotten my last Pers statement.
  3. my Roth IRA value $8567.54/$9,000 invested.... i keep telling myself my shares are on sale.... God bless buying a bit each month....
  4. emergency fund $6,000.00. This i'm really proud of. =)
  5. house dp fund $2,954.56 It's slowly growing
  6. small various accounts set aside for annual bills and ins payments... $395.16
  7. Savings bonds 427.38
  8. AND NO DEBT! (ya, i'm just that cool)

I can also safely assume that i'll make $40,000 this year before taxes. Not too shabby for my second year on my own in an apartment in money sucking Orange County. The net worth can only go up from here.

I also want to thank my wonderful readers for their comments and suggestions as to my little predicament. I appreciate them all. and I think i found a solution to my mini problem (me realizing that i'm suffering from the same problem as the guy who wrote about the 60% solution... I find that what i really get in a pickle over financially is the birthdays, holidays, auto repairs, ect .... the emergency fund isn't really there for... but i don't want a bazillion sub saving accounts)

I decided that I will have to have one more savings account--- but i can deal with that. I'm calling it the "i will spend this by december" account.

Normally at the end of the month, I take the extra money from little things like the electric bill, or the 60 cents left from my cell phone payment and sluck it towards the house downpayment fund... well, I'm now going to siphone that money into this savings account. I'm also going to put my raise in there... and any holiday, retro active pay or overtime money into here. The interest from this account will go towards my house downpayment fund (a bonus for saving).

I'll use this for birthdays, christmas's, car maint... replacing broken stuff in the apartment, etc.

Come December, if i'm sitting on any cash I'll take some of it to use for my Roth IRA 2009... Which irronically i'll be trying to start saving for in August. August is extra paycheck month and my extra paychecks always go towards my retirement... so 2009 gets a jump start.

I've been trying to think of a way...

I've been trying to think of a way to set aside money for the random stuff you can't really save for annual because it just pops up.... and I also don't really want to have a gazillion sub accounts for all the "what if's" that come with life...

Any ideas???? I'm looking for a system to cover things like:

-Birthdays
-Car repairs
-replacing things that break
-necessity clothing
-Apartment furnishings (ie replacing stuff that breaks and purchasing needs...)

Stuff like that isn't what an Emergency Fund is for... Makes me think I should look back into the 60% solution...

Or Maybe i'll put that raise i get+ any ovetime and the like i get from now on aside in an "anything goes" account.....

poo... I just dunno.

Hey everyone

Hopefully everything should get back to normal in the coming days... (and thankfully I don't think i'll be expecting a day in court anytime soon.)

I'm spending some time simplifying things and just relaxing and trying to get back into the ebb and flow of things.

Its time to embrace and enjoy what is around me

=)

Finanacial updates coming soon.
