The ZOO!!! and double WOOT WOOT for the new fund i created.
The BF paid for gas and my ticket--We each paid for our own lunches, but I paid for dinner for us at Claim Jumper... and of course i paid for my own keepsakes.
(I used the overtime money i had from my last paycheck to cover the trip.) I have a little over $100.00 left from the overtime to cover my half of the pizza costs for my party on Saturday. The "leftovers" are going towards the "I will spend this by Dec"--- the newly created fund for auto maint... birthdays... and holidays.... plus special outtings like the zoo.
Any holiday pay, overtime, and raises are getting slucked in here. (i get a 6% raise for my annual review to be retro active from May 20th.... which should be coming soon... and another 4% in January) so that kinda makes it 10% for the random stuff that will come up throughout the year... which is better then i was doing.
Come January, whatever is left in here will go to next years roth to help jump start it... But Xmas comes before Jan so i doubt it...
I know i have to call toyota and get an auto maint quote for my next service check. Speaking of cars... i finally purchased one of those PSI readers for one's tires.... I'll hopefully be correctly inflating my tires from here on out whenever i stop and get gas.

A few things...
One day a week I have to work at a different facility and its a mile or so closer to my house... =) hey man, every bit helps... I'm also going to pull $140.00 out of my checking account on Aug 1st for gas... I'll keep cash in my wallet to avoid the 45 cent charges that are starting to become the norm at a lot of the stations here...
Always have a resume...
Apparently my work is starting eligibility lists for internal promotions for the positions directly above my current one... I had to spend 3 hours answering supplimental questions for the interview and trying to update my resume... I'm going to re-do the resume today... Who knows, promotion??
Knowing when to remind your boss that he's had the paperwork for your review 3 months...
Not on the day the facility has a lot of issues... i was going to mention that my review was yet to be processed on friday... but a buch of punk kids were messing around the facility after hours and my boss was on the phone with the police for a while. But in my questioning around... apparently there is a review thats 6 months late for one of our employees.... I turned in my paper work a month early... so mines only 2 months late as of now... I'll send an email to him today (today its 3 months on his desk).

Kiva Loan #1-- Uganda... another payment
The loan you have made to Atim Irene's Group has received a repayment of$550.00. The total amount repaid is now $1,100.00. This repayment willbe divided amongst all the lenders who helped to fund this business, depending upon the percentage each lender contributed. Please note that these funds will not be credited to your Kiva accountuntil the loan is repaid in full or when the loan term is complete. At that time, you will be able to withdraw these funds from Kiva or tore-lend these funds to a new entrepreneur.
Best wishes,
- The Kiva Team

I made a wonderful mistake! I'm retiring early (8 years earlier)
I can retire at 57... with 1.5 million in todays dollars, assuming i make $40,000.00 a year (which I am.)
Why 57? It will suppliment over 100% of the income i'll be making at retirement by staying an extra 2 years... AND It insures that i'll recieve money coming in until i'm 99 (cause i could live that long with modern medicine).
With my income right now, I'll recieve over $41,000 a year till i'm 99.... I actually used the official CAlpers website to calculate it. and that's all before utilizing my ROTH IRA!!!!!!! Can we say travel???
New retirement date: Wednesday, June 3rd, 2043
I just knocked off 8 years!!!!!
I promised a numbers update... here it is
Net Worth: $33,402
- Comprised of my car KBB value at trade in, good condition with 35,000 miles. $11,040.00... not too shabby.
- Todays value of my CAL Pers retirement $4,023.00. This will go up soon, but i haven't gotten my last Pers statement.
- my Roth IRA value $8567.54/$9,000 invested.... i keep telling myself my shares are on sale.... God bless buying a bit each month....
- emergency fund $6,000.00. This i'm really proud of. =)
- house dp fund $2,954.56 It's slowly growing
- small various accounts set aside for annual bills and ins payments... $395.16
- Savings bonds 427.38
- AND NO DEBT! (ya, i'm just that cool)
I can also safely assume that i'll make $40,000 this year before taxes. Not too shabby for my second year on my own in an apartment in money sucking Orange County. The net worth can only go up from here.
I also want to thank my wonderful readers for their comments and suggestions as to my little predicament. I appreciate them all. and I think i found a solution to my mini problem (me realizing that i'm suffering from the same problem as the guy who wrote about the 60% solution... I find that what i really get in a pickle over financially is the birthdays, holidays, auto repairs, ect .... the emergency fund isn't really there for... but i don't want a bazillion sub saving accounts)
I decided that I will have to have one more savings account--- but i can deal with that. I'm calling it the "i will spend this by december" account.
Normally at the end of the month, I take the extra money from little things like the electric bill, or the 60 cents left from my cell phone payment and sluck it towards the house downpayment fund... well, I'm now going to siphone that money into this savings account. I'm also going to put my raise in there... and any holiday, retro active pay or overtime money into here. The interest from this account will go towards my house downpayment fund (a bonus for saving).
I'll use this for birthdays, christmas's, car maint... replacing broken stuff in the apartment, etc.
Come December, if i'm sitting on any cash I'll take some of it to use for my Roth IRA 2009... Which irronically i'll be trying to start saving for in August. August is extra paycheck month and my extra paychecks always go towards my retirement... so 2009 gets a jump start.

Kiva Loan #2
=)
Thursday, July 10, 2008
I've been trying to think of a way...
Any ideas???? I'm looking for a system to cover things like:
-Birthdays
-Car repairs
-replacing things that break
-necessity clothing
-Apartment furnishings (ie replacing stuff that breaks and purchasing needs...)
Stuff like that isn't what an Emergency Fund is for... Makes me think I should look back into the 60% solution...
Or Maybe i'll put that raise i get+ any ovetime and the like i get from now on aside in an "anything goes" account.....
poo... I just dunno.
Hey everyone
I'm spending some time simplifying things and just relaxing and trying to get back into the ebb and flow of things.
Its time to embrace and enjoy what is around me
=)
Finanacial updates coming soon.
